Advice

Can I use distilled water in the humidifier instead of the Activator solution?

Yes. However, it must be distilled water and not tap water, as tap water will damage the humidor. You may need to refill the humidifier more often, and it will not assist in preventing mold in the humidor but can assist in keeping the humidification level where the humidor needs to be to preserve the cigars.

The hygrometer in a humidor is used to properly measure the level of humidity within a humidor. It is essential that the hygrometer is calibrated and at an understood level where it will accurately measure the humidity within. Any analog hygrometer has a much larger variance than a digital hygrometer. Over time, this variance grows even further (approximately between 5-10%).
