The first rule is to make sure that the blade is sharp before cutting a cigar. Any other may cause damage and ruin the cigar itself, despite any type of cut. Hold the cigar at eye leve in order to cut the cigar in a straight line. When cutting the cigar, be sure the you are not cutting too deep into the cigar. Cigars with labels are great to start off with as the label itself can be used as a guide. You want to just cut off a bit from the tip, but not too much from the full gauge of the cigar. This will eliminate crushing as well as a good amount for you to smoke and enjoy!
